AstroDay 2008 is fast approaching. Due to schedule conflicts
neither Steve nor Nora will be in attendance this year, but it's shaping to be another
great event.
The Botball 2008 season has kicked off. Once again Steve is assisting the
Kealakehe High School RoboRiders. The team has some new members and a few returning
veterans ready to put last year's experience to work. This year's challenge is much more
difficult, with a larger playing field and an iRobot "Create" robot as the main robotics
platform.
BOTBASH is back, with a new game and an updated and even cooler
arena. Steve has been working with Bob Pitzer of BOTBASH LLC to
develop the game format and
detailed rules
for BashBall. The first outing for the updated and
imporoved arena will be the South Carolina State Fair (see below).
More events are planned, and will be announced as dates are finalized.
In the mean time check out cool BOTBASH video at the
BOTBASH YouTube
Channel.
The Kealakehe High School RoboRiders finished 15th overall in a
field of 65 at the
Botball International tournament held in Honolulu July 10-13, 2007.
This is a HUGE accomplishment for the team, who were determined to do better
than they did at the regional, held earlier this year.
We recently attended
Robogames 2007 in San Francisco. While the event was disappointing
in many respects, it was great to see our mainland "robot" friends,
and Steve won First Place in the 1-lb Autonomous Combat class with Thinkling.
